Installation

Akritas is distributed through the sysroot-io/akritas GitHub repository. Published source versions are available on the Releases page.

Clone the repository​

Requirements: Git and Go 1.25 or later. An OpenAI-compatible /v1 model endpoint is also required when you run Akritas.

git clone https://github.com/sysroot-io/akritas.git
cd akritas

The commands below run from the repository root. To use a published version instead of the current main branch, select its tag from the Releases page before building.

Build from source​

go test ./...
go build -o bin/akritas ./cmd/akritas

Continue with the Quickstart to connect a model endpoint and start the host.

Build the container​

Docker with Compose is required. From the cloned repository:

cp .env.example .env
# Replace AKRITAS_API_KEY in .env.
docker compose build

The container runs as UID/GID 10001, drops Linux capabilities, disables privilege escalation, and uses a read-only root filesystem. See Deployment Considerations.
